sorry, we're closed

On the 29th of February 2020 Coronavirus – COVID-19 – came to the Republic of Ireland with the confirmation of a first case in Glasnevin, Dublin. 2 weeks, and 169 cases later, on the 15th of March all pubs and clubs across the Republic were requested to close for an initial period of two weeks.

Whilst clearly right this decision brought immediate hardship and struggle down on to an industry that had since early February been seeing corporate revenues and business drain from the market at an alarming rate. How you as a publican react in this time of crisis is vital to the safety and security of your stock and premises. By all means lock the doors and pull the shutters down, but we strongly recommend additional steps be taken.

Change your locks and change your alarm codes. Consider an aggrieved current or former member of staff that may have a key or know the alarm codes and how to move rapidly around your premises. An unattended and loosely watched pub is a significant temptation to anyone with nefarious intentions.

Contact your sales rep’s immediately. Assume that the shutdown will last well past the 29th of March; you are going to have stock going out of date very soon, especially kegs that are open. Segregate your out of date product and have Diageo and Heineken, and the other breweries and suppliers tag and uplift any open and tapped kegs straightaway. Out of dates are a very expensive source of waste, do not get caught out.

Insurance is obviously a hot topic too during this national emergency and it would be prudent to conduct an up to date stock valuation for use with insurers when discussing cover, loss of revenue, liabilities, theft and break-in’s, or any other issues however they may arise. We have seen a number of our customers move fast and have this done to secure themselves against any and all future circumstances.

Total Stock Control are open for business, new and current, today, and can rapidly arrange a comprehensive and accurate food and beverage stock valuation and same-day report for you. If you need assistance with this, or any of the points above, please contact us directly.
